First class passengers onboard London North Eastern Railway (LNER) will be offered a new plant-based menu to celebrate Veganuary.
Vegan offerings include a plant-based sausage sandwich, apple and sultana overnight oats, vegetable masala and mushroom pie. Travellers can choose from four complimentary menus – Brunch, Dine, Dish or Deli – according to the service they are travelling on.
Passengers travelling on weekdays will be served the full selection, while those on weekends will be offered Brunch, Dish or Deli. Meals are freshly prepared onboard by chefs.
LNER is supporting Veganuary again this year, with exclusive vegan dishes available throughout January. The plant-based dishes will accompany the train line’s regular staples such as the full LNER breakfast. Gluten-free options are also available.
The Brunch, Deli and Dish meals feature a toasted teacake, satsuma or banana, Rainbow veg sandwich, Mexican-style grains salad, chocolate and ‘cream’ pot and vegan praline chocolate.
Meals on Dine services include a ‘Full LNER’ cooked breakfast or vegetarian alternative, also served during the brunch sitting, and a Melt in the Middle Chocolate Sponge Pudding served at lunchtime and in the evening.
A variety of hot, soft and alcoholic drinks are on offer, too. Those taking part in Dry January can also try the Non-Alcoholic Passionfruit Martini. All drinks, apart from hot chocolate, are vegan-friendly.
Travellers booking their tickets on the LNER website or app will find out the name of their menu.
LNER states: “There’s no better time to try plant-based foods than during Veganuary – throughout the month of January – which we’re proud to support by offering a variety of vegan dishes on this menu.”
