The new First Class menu of London North Eastern Railway (LNER) features food and drink sourced locally from suppliers based along the company’s East Coast route.
The menu includes produce from suppliers from Scotland, North East England, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and London. They were selected for the quality of their produce, locally sourced ingredients and responsible approach. The products include Beckleberry’s chocolate pots and brownies sourced in Newcastle upon Tyne, On a Roll sandwiches from Middlesbrough and The Original Baker hog roast sausage rolls from Malton.
“We pride ourselves in offering our customers the best possible experience and we’re delighted to be introducing our new year menu. The communities we serve really matter to us and we are also proud to support local suppliers along our route. By working together, we’re proud to be able to offer such a wide range of delicious and flavoursome food and drink onboard our trains, further enhancing our customer experience,” said Richard Judge, LNER’s Head of Customer Experience Proposition.
Three complimentary menus – Dine, Dish or Deli – offer passengers in First a wider choice than previously and vary according to the service that people are travelling on.
Dishes on Dine services include a Full LNER or Full Veggie LNER cooked breakfast. The brekkies are freshly prepared by onboard chefs.
Roast chicken with roast potatoes and wilted greens served with sherry and shallot sauce plus a creamy coconut sweet potato curry count among choices later in the day. Sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel sauce is offered for dessert.
For the first time, LNER is supporting Veganuary, the annual event which inspires people to try a vegan diet during January as part of efforts to adopt a more environmentally aware lifestyle. The vegan options available include a sweet potato pakora Bang Bang salad bowl, falafel, roasted pepper and humous sandwich and vegan sausage roll.
Hot sandwiches, including vegan options, waffles and a speciality salad bowl also feature on the Dine and Dish menus. So too does a variety of hot and cold beverages.
For passengers enjoying the Deli offer, a range of sandwiches, snacks, biscuits and sweet treats are available as part of complimentary catering in First.
Passengers in Standard can order through LNER’s Let’s Eat At Your Seat service.
Prospective passengers can discover which menu will be offered on the service they plan to travel on while booking direct on the LNER website or app.
