Through its partnership with Plastic Bank, Linstol will again help visitors to the 2025 WTCE in Hamburg to offset their plastic footprint by funding the collection of two kilograms of ocean-diverted plastic from coastlines and waterways per attendee at the trade show.
That equates to around 100 plastic water bottles for each WTCE attendee. Linstol uses the recycled waste, called Social Plastic, to manufacture inflight headsets.
Linstol and Plastic Bank are tackling ocean pollution at source by funding the collection of plastic waste from coastal environments before it reaches the ocean.
Across 99 coastal communities, the lives of more than 800 waste collectors have been improved through a reliable source of income, social benefits and access to education.
The partnership demonstrates a positive contribution towards all 17 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
A corporate sponsor of WTCE since 2021, Linstol has funded the collection of over 94,000kg of ocean-bound plastic waste. That equates to approximately 4.7 million plastic bottles.
A closed-loop solution has also been created and the recycled waste is being repurposed into new raw material, called Social Plastic.
In 2024, Linstol used 20 tons of recycled Social Plastic in the production of components for in-flight headsets.
Linstol will be encouraging more airlines to support the Social Plastic initiative during the 2025 WTCE in Hamburg, Germany.
Steve Wickham, Global Head of ESG at Linstol, said: “As a Florida-based company, protecting oceans and coastal communities is close to our hearts, but this is a global issue and by supporting Plastic Bank we can turn ocean-bound plastic waste into a genuine force for good.”
“By integrating recycled Social Plastic into our products, airline customers can also use the programme to reduce environmental footprint, demonstrate progress on ESG goals and show passengers that they care about the environment,” he continued.
