Emphasising its “lighter, cooler and smart” solutions, Driessen Catering Equipment unveiled its new Cool Trolley at the 2026 WTCE in Hamburg. The trolley is designed to keep food and beverage items chilled without using dry ice.
Driessen’s parent company, CCE Group announced the acquisition of Icebridge in December 2025. Together, the Driessen and Icebridge publicised their Vision Zero Dry Ice campaign at WTCE. It is a pledge to develop no new products relying on dry ice.
By 2030, the companies intend to have fully adopted more sustainable, safer and more efficient cold chain solutions. Dry ice can be dangerous to crew members handling it while being expensive and energy-intensive to produce. At the same time, the cooling results can be inconsistent.
A smarter trolley solution was also showcased at WTCE. A small box on the bottom of the trolley collects data relating to where the trolley is, how long it is idle and how much is being used.
The Hybrite Ultra Lite weighs 14.1kg for a full-size trolley. It is being promoted as the world’s lightest certified trolley, helping minimise CO2 emissions and fuel expenses.
