Airline passengers now have the opportunity to start learning a language during a flight by using uTalk.
At this year’s APEX Global EXPO, Brett Savidge, Vice President of Sales at uTalk Language Learning, said uTalk has created a pioneering initiative offering air passengers the opportunity to start learning a language while en route to business or holiday destinations via the airline’s IFE.
uTalk offers multiple source languages, giving different nationalities access to a variety of choices.
“Learning modules and videos were originally just in English but we have now also launched additional content for the airlines in people’s own mother tongues, such as Arabic, Mandarin, Spanish, German, Turkish, Latin Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese,” said Savidge.
“Over the last 12 months, we have started a new initiative where we are able to offer each airline a bespoke language offering relating to where their passengers are from and matching languages to the destinations the airline flies to.”
The company has created some of these specific language options for: LATAM (Latin Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese); Ethiopian (Ahmaric content and regional languages for Ethiopian passengers); Hawaiian Airlines (passengers can learn some words and phrases in Hawaiian such as hello/please/thank you); and Fiji Airways (they wanted to help people communicate in Fijian when they arrive on the island).
