IMG has a new platform enabling passengers to stream live sports directly to their personal devices during flights.
The platform was first introduced in partnership with Qatar Airways and powered by Starlink connectivity.
“We unveiled a groundbreaking new platform that allows passengers to stream live sport in high definition directly to their personal devices, mid-flight. Nothing rivals the excitement of watching sports live…We provide blockbuster content every day,” said Richard Wise, Senior Vice President of Content Channels at IMG.
IMG is home to the first and only dedicated live sports channels for the international inflight market, Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra.
It showcased the channels’ latest technological developments, viewing features and live sports coverage that passengers can enjoy onboard – including the Premier League, Formula 1, golf masters, tennis grand slams, NFL, NBA and MotoGP – at the 2025 APEX/IFSA Global EXPO in Long Beach.
Sport 24 broadcasts 24 hours a day, year-round, bringing over 6,000 live hours of the world’s most premium sports to millions of passengers globally.
“We’ve long been the pioneers of live sports broadcasting in the skies. And this year, we changed the game again,” added Wise.
“With 74% of passengers saying they’d choose live sport over other in-flight entertainment in our 2024 Passenger Survey, this is more than just a technological leap. It’s a response to how fans engage with live sport today: on their terms, on their devices, wherever they are. This is going to be especially important as we look towards the FIFA World Cup next year,” he explained.
