Delta goes pink for breast cancer awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Delta is once again going pink to support the cause.

From October 1, passengers can support the cause by eating and drinking pink onboard. For the entire month, 25% of proceeds from all onboard food and beverage purchases will be donated to BCRF.

Furthermore, in collaboration with its partners, some of Delta’s snack and drink offerings will be turning pink to show support.

Delta passengers will be able to try Sweetwater 420 beer in a special pink can, as well as a blue can ahead of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in November.

The Kate’s Real Food Bar flavour will be changing to a special pink Oatmeal, Cranberry, and Almond bar.

There will also be a Biscottea Pink Traditional Teatime Shortbread Cookie; FitJoy Cheezy White Cheddar Pretzel Twists in its signature pink packaging, and Minute Maid Pink Lemonade.

A limited-edition specialty cocktail, the “Pink Sky,” will also be offered onboard. A combination of Du Nord Vodka and Minute Maid Pink Lemonade, this refreshing drink supports real change.

Finally, during the month of October, the Someone Somewhere amenity kits are turning pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Customers flying in Delta One will be treated to pink amenity kits to show their support during their flight.

Since 2005, Delta has supported 99 research projects at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, raising over $24.75 million.

A number of Delta employees have been personally affected by breast cancer. “Because of early detection, I was able to begin my fight right away,” said Kristen Manion Taylor, S.V.P. of In-Flight Service and a breast cancer survivor. “By a stroke of luck, the life-saving treatment and care I received was through doctors who were funded by our BCRF partnership. Delta’s involvement and annual promotion of this cause is now personal; it means the world to me. The continued generosity and support of Delta employees and customers is amazing, and I could not be more grateful.”

Allison Ausband, E.V.P. and Chief Customer Experience Officer said:“BCRF has long been a cause near and dear to my heart, but when my mother was diagnosed last year, it took on a whole new meaning. Standing by her side as she battled breast cancer so bravely, I knew I would do anything to find a cure.

“I am humbled by Delta’s unwavering presence in this fight as we work together to fund research and support survivors and fighters, knowing we won’t stop we’ve ended this disease.”
