China Airlines has introduced a new Business Class tableware collection designed to bring Taiwanese cultural references, contemporary design and sustainability to its inflight dining experience.
The Taiwan-based carrier has rolled out the new collection in Premium Business Class on services to Frankfurt, Prague, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Auckland. Developed with Taiwanese design brand JIA and product development and manufacturing specialist Clip, the range follows the airline’s previous Japanese-inspired Business Class tableware collection.

Based around the concept of ‘Home’, the design takes inspiration from traditional lanterns and their associations with warmth and reunion. Rounded forms are reflected throughout the tableware, while porcelain pieces feature subtle gradients in China Airlines’ signature Sustainable Jade alongside grayscale mountain landscapes.
The imagery is inspired by traditional ink-wash painting and references Taiwan’s natural landscape, creating what the airline describes as a calm and serene dining environment.
The collection comprises more than 30 pieces, including main plates, multipurpose dishes, stainless-steel cutlery and glassware. Clip supported the product development and manufacturing process, helping to meet the consistency, quality and technical requirements of airline service.
Cultural references have also been incorporated into functional elements of the collection. A gourd-shaped butter dish doubles as a chopstick rest, while salt and pepper shakers are styled as small red lanterns. A multifunctional utensil inspired by an aircraft propeller combines a dessert spoon, teaspoon and butter knife.

The individual pieces can also be combined and arranged in different configurations, giving cabin crew flexibility in presenting different meal services.
The launch forms part of China Airlines’ continued investment in its premium cabin product and inflight dining proposition. The airline has previously received recognition in the Onboard Awards for its Business Class service, catering and onboard products.
The new collection is intended to combine practical requirements for airline service with a stronger sense of place, using Taiwanese design and cultural references to create a more distinctive onboard dining experience for passengers.
