Princess Cruises has opened a new restaurant, Love by Britto, aboard its ship Sun Princess. The restaurant is the first of its kind: a collaboration between Romero Britto, the Brazilian artist who founded the Happy Art Movement, and chef Rudi Sodamin.
Love by Britto presents a sensational dining experience, blending the artistry of Britto and the culinary creativity of Sodamin, in a seven-course, prix fixe menu.
Located on the ship’s 17th deck, the restaurant displays Britto’s works against a backdrop designed to immerse couples in a world of colours, patterns and emotions. It is an intimate, 68-seat dining space.
The seven-course dining experience begins with the likes of oysters with lemongrass kafir, mirin and gold flakes.
Main courses feature creative heart-shaped presentations and include savoury tuna and avocado, pomegranate and togarashi; cappuccino of wild mushroom soup; salad of beets, figs and goat cheese; granita of pink Champagne and rose petals; tail of lobster thermidor; and beef tenderloin and truffle jus.
Dessert options include a heart-shaped chocolate lava cake; fresh berries and raspberry cream; plus petits fours.
Dinnerware features Britto’s art, heart-folded napkins and cutlery with heart-shaped cut outs. Love by Britto carries a cover charge of $79 per person and can be booked pre-cruise in the Princess app.
Seven speciality cocktails have been crafted and an extensive wine list has been selected to complement the menu and are available à la carte. The love-themed cocktails include Strawberry Love Potion, mixed with Tequila rose, Disaronno Amaretto, Chambord and strawberries, Expresso My Love made with Jameson whiskey, OM Chocolate Liqueur, Disaronno Amaretto, demerara sugar, chocolate bitters and espresso coffee, plus Britto Coupe blended from Grey Goose Essences Strawberry and Lemongrass, Aperol, Cointreau, lime and strawberries.
“The art of Romero Britto makes people happy with his unique expression of the universal language of love and his creative inspiration blends with my culinary passion to deliver a high-end, meticulously curated menu that guests full of memories overflowing with love was a transformative experience,” said Rudi Sodamin, Head of Culinary Arts at Princess Cruises.
“We’re both proud to see Love by Britto come to life with Sun Princess guests celebrating this exclusive dining event, showcasing the harmony between food, art and love,” continued Sodamin.
