New sustainable whisky bottles onboard Caledonian Sleeper

Scottish whisky distillery Nc’nean has teamed up with the Caledonian Sleeper for its sustainable whisky bottles.

The miniature whisky bottles, which are made from 100% recycled glass, are now available aboard the Caledonian Sleeper between London and Scotland.

Nc’nean signature organic malt whisky is described as ‘light and fruity’. Its packaging cuts carbon emissions by 40% compared to using traditional glass bottles made from virgin materials. The distiller is powered by 100% renewable energy.

Guests on the Caledonian Sleeper generate up to seven times less CO2 compared to flights or car journeys.

Annabel Thomas, founder of Nc’nean, said: “I am so delighted to be launching our 100% recycled glass mini Nc’nean single malts on the Caledonian Sleeper.

“For me, this is two ambitions rolled into one: to finally have our 5cls available in our signature recycled glass and to see Nc’nean featured on the iconic Caledonian Sleeper.”

David Durance, Catering and Operations Manager at Caledonian Sleeper, added: “We are excited to be partnering with Nc’nean Distillery to introduce our guests to their organic single malt whisky and provide a unique taste of Scotland both onboard our service and in our London Euston lounge.

“Their [Nc’nean’s] focus on sustainability is very much at the heart of their product, with the glass being produced from 100% recycled materials, their organic barley to make the whisky being sourced locally and waste product being used to fertilise the land and feed the cows on the farm.”
