New summer menu from Finnair

Finnair has launched a new summer menu.

The new dishes, which are available until October 29, are inspired by Nordic summer flavours.

Meals include vegetable Bolognese pasta, vegetarian korma curry noodles and berry oatmeal. Passengers can also find cashew nuts, blueberry muffins, salty liquorice and fruit candy.

Depending on the route, travellers can pre-order a hotel meal or fresh sandwich. Hot dishes comprise grilled chicken fillet with carrot spaghetti, carrot puree and pea pesto.

Plus, stewed beef with fried potatoes, onions, green beans and liquorice sauce is on offer. A rosé wine completes the menu.

Business class passengers on long-haul flights can try starters of salmon sashimi, shrimp tartlet or summer vegetables.

Meals include slow-cooked beef in a dough crust with mushroom duxelles, root puree, roasted vegetables and red wine sauce or a panko-coated rainbow trout with sauteed leek and roasted vegetables, horseradish and mustard. A third option is dependent on the route.

Business class or Premium Economy travellers on long-haul flights departing from Helsinki can select their preferred main course in advance using their Finnair Plus Profile.

Sami Oksava, Development Chef at Finnair, said: “On our long-haul flights from Helsinki to Singapore, Nagoya, Hong Kong and Shanghai, our inflight service concept has been renewed to account for the late departure time of the flight and to benefit our passengers.

“On these routes, we first offer a light meal in Business class and a delicious brunch before the flight lands. Business class brunch consists of breakfast-style starters and dessert selection, as well as three main courses to choose from. We also offer in Premium Economy and Economy classes brunch style lighter meals on these routes before landing.”
