New innovations from WTCE 2024

This year’s World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE) concluded on May 30 at Hamburg Messe.

The three-day exhibition welcomed 3,000 attendees, which was a 15% increase compared to 2023. 

Key themes included special diets, beverages, nutrition and sustainability.

There were 870 VIP attendees, comprising buyers from airlines, travel catering companies and rail operators across 72 countries.

A WTCE Ambassador Programme was also launched this year. Experts were founder of Nutted Out Nutrition Melissa Adamski; Director of JetVine Kelly Stevenson; Co-Founder of the Aviation Sustainability Forum Matt Crane; and CEO of Creative Nature Julianne Ponan.

En Route sponsored the 2024 Taste of Travel theatre, which saw 50 speakers explore culinary trends, sustainability, special meals, nutrition, wellness onboard and passenger experience enhancement. 

Plus, a new Steps to Sustainability feature highlighted eco-friendly options for onboard catering and services. Linstol, Deli Lites, deSter and FORMIA were among the 19 exhibitors on the trail.

These initiatives provided attendees with in-depth looks at the latest advancements in passenger wellness and sustainable practices in line with WTCE’s core themes of travel nutrition, special diets, beverages and sustainability, all of which were projected in the Taste of Travel Theatre.
