Patrick Himmelhaus, Director of Global Event Management and Marketing at LSG Group, outlines what World Travel Catering and Onboard Services Expo (WTCE) attendees can look forward to from LSG Group at the Hamburg Messe in 2023.
Inevitably, there is always anticipation and speculation about the products and services that will be revealed at major trade events.
“There will be no big product reveals this year, but we certainly have accelerated some of our products that are gaining maturity, like the consumption analytics that we introduced last year,” says Patrick, referencing a product which analyses food waste and provides detailed insights about consumption-related behaviour.
AICA at WTCE
“We will introduce our new brand, AICA, which is a finalist in the Onboard Hospitality Awards,” says Himmelhaus, looking ahead to LSG Group’s attendance at WTCE from June 6 to June 8.
The new brand name hints at the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as part of efforts to improve onboard food and drink offerings while enhancing customer satisfaction.
In-flight management suite
LSG Group’s in-flight management suite has also been further developed by the company’s experts over the last year. Along with the evolution of the concept, LSG Group is now embracing more partnerships. That means new things to show, advancements to discuss and best practices we can share.
“We have culinary partnerships and product partnerships, and involve them in our booth concept. So we make that tangible and let our customers experience the journey with crockery from Kaelis and food concepts including Barilla or NotCo,” explains Himmelhaus.

Hybrid flight model
“The whole booth concept will be based on a hybrid flight model,” he adds.
“So in our lounge for customer meetings, we will have a Business Class and First Class menu that can fly. It’s not only a concept; we are able to translate that into a product that can fly, which is, I think, important,” he reveals.
“And in the booths and the conference rooms we then have the onboard retail offering together with our experts from Retail inMotion. In every step, we try to involve some of our partnerships with Barilla, Cuisine Solutions, NotCo and Kaelis,” says LSG Group’s Director of Global Event Management and Marketing.
