Inflight product specialist Linstol has partnered with Plastic Bank to help reduce the environmental footprint of airline products and industry events like WTCE in Hamburg.
Plastic Bank is a social enterprise devoted to preserving the oceans and stopping plastic pollution at source.
It has a network of waste collectors based in vulnerable coastal regions in developing countries where ocean pollution is rife, including in South-America and South-East Asia.
Collectors receive income and social benefits in return for the waste they collect, which is recycled into raw material, known as ‘Social Plastic’, which companies can then purchase for use in their manufacturing facilities.
As part of its partnership, Linstol will fund the collection of around 3,000 kgs of ocean prevented plastic waste equal to approximately 150,000 waste plastic water bottles, to help offset the plastic footprint of each visitor to WTCE.
Linstol’s long-term partnership is helping to amplify impact on all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) simultaneously, especially SDG 12 for Responsible Production and Consumption, and SDG 14 on Life Below Water.
In August 2024, Linstol started using Social Plastic from Plastic Bank in mass production of customer products and to date it has:
- supported 875 individual Plastic Bank members
- collected over 20 tons of ocean bound plastic waste from 99 communities worldwide
- integrated Social Plastic® into production of components for Business Class and Economy Class Headsets.
By partnering with Plastic Bank and incorporating Social Plastic in the manufacturing of inflight products, Linstol’s airline customers can help reduce their own environmental footprint.
