Brussels Airlines has chosen Belgian food brand Bon as its fresh food provider to supply sandwiches on its entire short- and medium-haul fleet.
Available on the buy-on-board menu in Economy Class, the partnership will see over 450,000 Bon sandwiches fly across Europe every year.
Bon was founded in 2015 and currently has 17 stores throughout Belgium with ambitions to open 50 stores in Belgium by 2032.
Over the years, Brussels Airlines has established strong partnerships with Belgium’s most famous brands, including Neuhaus and Tomorrowland.
The airline also showcases fresh Belgian talent: a student from Antwerp’s fashion academy designed the uniform and a start-up was selected to provide ice creams on long-haul flights.
Bon is a young, dynamic Belgian brand with ambitious growth plans – the deal will bring a new production line to its kitchen with nine dedicated staff working for the Belgian airline.
Bert Gillis, Commercial Director, Bon, said: “We made over 40 recipes until we found the perfect selection that stays true to our promise of always delivering fresh, handmade food, that was also suitable to be served onboard an aircraft. We will have four different sandwiches on offer each time, with a menu that rotates a few times a year.”
Thibaut Dewilde, Head of Inflight Management, Brussels Airlines, said: “With Bon we stay true to our DNA: it’s very high quality and it’s Belgian, just like Brussels Airlines. We are excited about the way these sandwiches are produced but we’re also proud to be a stepping stone for another strong Belgian brand, helping them foster their ambitious growth plans.”
