American Airlines celebrates centennial 100 in Hamburg

American Airlines celebrated its 100th birthday in Hamburg last week at the World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE).

A number of celebratory events highlighted special inflight products designed to commemorate the anniversary. These included a special-edition pyjama set from Buzz, and a centennial-themes range of amenities with FORMIA.

Created in partnership with Buzz, the Special Edition Sleepwear collection combines heritage-inspired design with comfort and modernity.

The collection features three distinctive designs, each showcasing a historic American Airlines logo from different eras of the brand’s evolution.

Crafted in a blue marle fabric, the sleepwear is soft, breathable and stylish. They are presented in a resusable drawstring bag.

Meanwhile, the special edition range of amenities by FORMIA celebrates features three different styles.

Each of the three kits – Astrojet, Silverbird and Forward – connects to a distinct chapter of American’s story.

Inside, centennial‑branded products reinforce the milestone and make the experience feel truly commemorative.

The ‘Forward’ era kit features angled stitching inspired by American’s flight symbol and newest seat designs, embodying the airline’s momentum and future focus.

The ‘Astrojet’ era kit includes a vibrant orange lightning bolt to recall the bold optimism of the early jet age.

Meanwhile, the ‘Silverbird’ era kit has a silver finish and tribar stripe to channel the refined glamour that shaped a golden era of air travel.

The inflight products were highlighted at celebratory events during WTCE. Bollinger champagne was served to guests, echoing the airline’s standing as an exclusive provider of the brand onboard in North America.
