Singapore Airlines begins A350 cabin retrofit

Singapore Airlines (SIA) is investing S$1.1 billion (£0.64bn or USD $0.83bn) in a cabin refresh for its A350 aircrafts.

The airline’s long-haul cabin products will be installed across 41 Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range (ULR) aircraft.

Its new First class cabin will be introduced in its seven A350-900ULR aircraft. Business class passengers, meanwhile, can expect new seats offering “greater levels of privacy, comfort and convenience.”

Both classes will feature a spacious and ergonomic layout. Seats will be the same in SIA’s upcoming Boeing 777-9 aircraft.

Premium Economy and Economy cabins will also be refreshed.

The next iteration of SIA’s KrisWorld inflight entertainment (IFE) system will offer enhanced personalisation and lifestyle options across all cabin classes. First and Business cabins will also feature new IFE screens.

The first retrofitted A350-900 long-haul aircraft is expected to enter service in the second quarter of 2026, with the first A350-900ULR variant following in the first quarter of 2027.

Completion of the retrofit programme is targeted for the end of 2030.

Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, said: “The new First and Business class seat designs will incorporate thoughtful elements that push the boundaries of comfort, luxury and modernity, allowing our passengers to relax or work effortlessly onboard.

“Premium Economy and Economy class passengers can also look forward to refreshed cabin interiors that enhance their travel experience.”
