Qatar Airways has become the first airline to install Starlink on Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Three of Qatar’s Dreamliners are equipped with Starling-powered connectivity.
The airline completed equipping its entire Airbus A350 fleet with Starlink connectivity in December. That task was finished within eight months. Its Boeing 777 fleet is also equipped to enable Starlink connectivity.
In total, nearly 120 of Qatar’s widebody aircraft are now Starlink-equipped. The in-flight connectivity (IFC) offers a fast Wi-Fi experience on routes across six continents.
More than 11 million passengers have been able to use Qatar’s free, fast, onboard Wi-Fi since the service was introduced in October 2024.
In 2025, Starlink connected over 21 million airline passengers around the world. Qatar Airways’ Starlink-connected passengers accounted for almost half of that total. More than 10 million passengers could make use of the complimentary service on Qatar’s widebody aircraft on long- and ultra-long-haul routes.
The 120 Starlink-equipped widebody aircraft represent over 58% of Qatar’s widebody fleet. Connectivity is provided at speeds of up to 500 Mbps, enabling uninterrupted streaming and video calls that can surpass home broadband networks.
