New airBaltic mobile app boosts ancillary revenue

The new mobile app of airBaltic has helped the Latvian airline boost ancillary revenue by 122% in the second half of 2024. The mobile app was introduced in July 2024, replacing a previous app, and is increasingly used by passengers to book extras, including meal pre-orders, as well as website bookings.

In its first six months, the app attained 409,000 unique users. Interactive features, including popular ‘Shake & Win’ campaigns, contributed to the app’s success by engaging users.

The new mobile app is available on iOS and Android platforms. It is designed to make the travel experience for airBaltic passengers smoother and more convenient.

Passengers’ upcoming flight information is displayed in one place, allowing them to easily view future travels with the airline. Boarding passes are now accessible directly through the app, ensuring a seamless boarding process.

Additionally, the app sends timely notifications on essential flight details, such as check-in opening, keeping passengers informed and prepared.

The new mobile app also includes an improved airBaltic Club section, which provides information on point transactions and highlights the benefits of membership levels and progression.

Users can track their point balance, differentiate between private and family/friends accounts, and access account summaries detailing member information and redemption options. Users can also manually add reservations if their membership number was not included during the booking process.

Māris Rudens, Head of Marketing Loyalty, Customer Experience and Partnership at airBaltic, commented: “We are pleased with the outstanding results the new airBaltic mobile app has achieved in just six months since its launch. This remarkable growth underscores our commitment to innovation and enhancing the customer experience. We remain committed to further developing this platform to deliver an even better experience for our customers in the future.”
