ITW Envopak has launched a new mini version of its seals for airline catering carts which uses 43% less plastic (SUP) than its original Uno Seal.
The Mini Uno Seal has been developed in collaboration with two major international airlines and will help carriers significantly reduce their environmental impact.
The seal is made from 100% recycled polypropylene material and is easy to apply with a single hand and twisted off to remove.
For an airline using 30 million seals a year, switching to this smaller seal this will save 28 tonnes of plastic.
“Not only will there be a reduction in the use of plastic, it’s possible to fit 66% more seals onto a single pallet for shipping,” said Nicky Slater, Business Development Manager – Airlines, for ITW Envopak, at last week’s IFSA Global EXPO in Dallas.
“They will also require significantly less storage space, bringing both sustainability and cost savings.”
