Gate Gourmet has created a ‘gastronomic identity’ for Spanish high-speed rail service iryo.
The new proposal, which was showcased at Fitur 2024 in Madrid, comprises Spanish culinary heritage, customisation and sustainability.

Aitor Rodríguez, Executive Chef of Innovation and Culinary Excellence at Gate Gourmet Spain has been tasked with crafting ‘personalised culinary experiences’ for passengers.
During this year’s Fitur exhibition, those visiting the iryo stand were offered menus and tapas that are currently part of the rail service’s onboard menu.
Gate Gourmet also led several culinary workshops, including a dessert show-cooking; an original wine tasting by Gonzalez Byass, paired with Amatller chocolates; a Barcardi cocktails masterclass and a beer tasting by Mahou, led by a beer sommelier.
The catering service has been supplying iryo trains since its inception in 2022.
