Winner interview: Galileo Watermark with EVA Air

Galileo Watermark won Best Onboard Amenities – Premium Economy in the 2019 Onboard Hospitality Awards for Sport b. for EVA Air

Q.Tell us a bit about the product, its background, and how it came to market
A. The brief from EVA Air was clear: They wanted a high-end brand partnership that would translate into a covetable and luxury kit for the Premium Economy cabin. We worked closely with the team at EVA to develop the bags and the end result unites the East and West together by tapping British skincare company Scaramouche + Fandango and French lifestyle brand Sport b. with the Taiwanese airline.

The co-branded bag features a monochrome striped design that reflects the iconic style and minimalistic attitude of Sport b. The understated amenity kit is sophisticated with a contemporary fashion twist and features a bold bright blue lining.

The canvas kit is the perfect fit for all the essentials required on a long-haul flight and includes an eye mask, dental kit, ear plugs and comb. The kit also contains a lip balm and face cream from British skincare brand Scaramouche + Fandango.

Q.What do you think puts your product ahead of others in the same field?
A. Sport b. is a widely recognised brand across Asia and having never flown before is a significant partnership for the region. In addition, the design is extremely appealing, and its canvas design is unlike other kits in the market.

Q.What need or onboard trend does the product address?
A. Airlines want to ensure the kits are not left behind and this covetable design ensures that passengers take the kit with them post flight to re-use.

Q.What is next for Galileo Watermark?
A. We have been working on a number of very exciting projects this year and are thrilled to be expanding our collaboration with a number of airlines as well as securing new customers. We have recently launched new kits with Virgin Atlantic for example which have a truly sustainable story and we will see more of this focus in the coming year. In addition, we will be launching a number of kits featuring carefully curated brand partnerships that are really relevant and new to the airline industry.

Q.What impact has winning an Onboard Hospitality Award had on your business?
A. It is always an honour to receive an award and great to be recognised for all our hard work. The awards are testament to each and every person in the team’s commitment to excellence and something that our customers appreciate and trust as a benchmark of quality and innovation.
