Child nutrition brand More Toddler Meals has said it is in discussions with airline suppliers as it explores opportunities to bring its freeze-dried toddler meals to onboard retail, targeting families travelling with young children.
Its range of three freeze-dried toddler meals is designed to be lightweight and shelf stable, requiring only the addition of hot water before serving. The meals are intended for use while travelling, whether in airports, onboard aircraft or after arriving at a destination where suitable meals for young children may not be readily available.
Founder Ed Van der Lande developed the concept after struggling to find convenient, nutritious toddler meals while travelling with his own family. Drawing on his experience as a former Army officer, he adapted freeze-drying technology commonly used for field rations to create meals that retain their nutritional value while being easy to transport and prepare.
Van der Lande believes the aviation sector presents an opportunity to better support families travelling with young children.
“Home-cooked meals are always the goal, but sometimes parents need practical, nutritious options when they’re travelling,” he said. “We see airline retail as an opportunity to make family travel easier by offering products that solve a genuine problem.”
The company currently supplies UK retailers including Ocado, as well as family-focused leisure venues and independent cafés, and says discussions with airline suppliers have highlighted growing interest in expanding onboard retail.
