Etihad introduces Beyond Borders and new cabins

Etihad Airways has unveiled its Beyond Borders product, aimed at evolving the passenger experience, at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai.

Rooted in Abu Dhabi, the Beyond Borders design story is underpinned by the concept ‘from sand to superstructure‘. It draws inspiration from the emirate’s natural landscape, architecture and transformation to create interiors that are contemporary, calm and distinctly Etihad.

Bright, serene spaces are complemented by bespoke details, including sconce lighting, leather seating in premium cabins and design touches such as First Class seat numbers projected discreetly onto the floor.

The design extends beyond individual materials and finishes. Shared touchpoints will increasingly connect Etihad’s lounges and aircraft, creating greater continuity as guests move through their journey.

The approach recognises that a premium experience is defined by the entire journey, from the airport and lounge through the onboard experience and the technology, hospitality and service that connect each stage of travel.

The airline’s new Airbus A330 cabin showcases First, Business and Economy interiors in the signature design language that will progressively extend across the airline’s growing fleet and premium spaces.

Alongside the A330, Etihad is showcasing how the Beyond Borders look and feel will extend to the A321LR, creating greater consistency across the journey.

The single-aisle A321LR already has First Class suites and fully lie-flat Business seats. Passengers are actively choosing services operated on the A321LR.

The Beyond Borders product and experience will form one connected proposition across cabins, lounges and ground services, dining, amenities, wellbeing and connectivity.

Additionally, Etihad is doubling down on First, bringing its distinctive First Class experience to more aircraft, more routes and more guests.

The airline is investing $20 billion in new aircraft and customer experiences to support its continued growth, including a $1 billion retrofit programme across its fleet.

Etihad’s new Airbus A330 will enter service from September 2027, with 15 A330s joining the fleet over five years. The aircraft will support the airline’s continued growth across regional and medium-haul markets, offering a three-cabin experience.

Four First Class suites feature a closing door for added privacy, with space for a companion to dine or socialise during the flight. Each suite will feature a 32-inch screen, wireless charging, dedicated compartments and personal stowage, alongside a personal powder station stocked with premium amenities for guests to use during their journey and take with them after the flight.

The First experience brings together personalisation, Etihad hospitality, dining and an elevated end-to-end journey, creating a distinctive First experience for the A330.

The Business cabin features 24 fully lie-flat seats, all forward-facing with direct aisle access and sliding doors for added privacy. Each seat includes a 17.3-inch screen, wireless and wired charging, a large table and dedicated personal stowage.

Economy features 252 seats with 13.3-inch 4K touchscreens and personal charging.

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, said: “Beyond Borders is becoming visible in the moments that matter most to our guests. It is showcased in the aircraft they fly, the cabins they enjoy, the lounges they explore and the service that connects every part of the journey.”

He added: “Beyond Borders goes beyond the aircraft and the seat. It is about the entire journey – our cabins, lounges, food, wellbeing, connectivity and the way we look after our guests. Over the coming months, we will continue to reveal how Beyond Borders is shaping the future Etihad experience, both on the ground and in the air.”
