Burrana revealed its RISE Power system with integrated Passenger Service Solutions (RISE Power + PSS) at the 2025 Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, Germany.
Demand for standalone solutions for both in-seat power and attendant call and reading light PSS functionality is growing as airlines remove traditional seatback inflight entertainment (IFE) systems to save weight and cost or to implement wireless IFE and inflight connectivity (IFC).
The RISE Power + PSS solution can be valuable for widebody aircraft being refurbished for use by low-cost long-haul carriers. It allows airlines to streamline retrofit programmes.
The PSS functionality of attendant call and reading lights can be powered in one box, along with USB outlets, removing the need for separate hardware.
Delays in OEM linefit deliveries have disrupted many airlines’ fleet plans, resulting in the delayed retirement of legacy aircraft. Consequently, airlines face either retrofitting outdated IFE systems or exploring aircraft leasing.
Burrana’s RISE Power + PSS solution is positioned as a cost-effective alternative designed to meet the evolving demands of the aviation industry.
It is designed for Boeing 747, 767, 777 and 787 plus Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft types. The first modified aircraft is anticipated to enter service in 2026.
