Bottega Spa marked Italy’s National Tree Day (November 21) by planting 500 trees.
The winery and distillery based at Bibano di Godega, 50km north of Venice, shares the philosophy of the Treedom project. Founded in 2010, Treedom allows anyone to plant a tree remotely and follow the story of the project it will bring to life.
The Bottega product range includes prosecco, including Bottega Gold, and other sparkling wines. Amarone, Ripasso, Chianti Gallo Nero, Brunello di Montalcino and other great red wines are produced in wineries in Valpolicella, Chianti and Montalcino. Fruit and cream liqueurs are also produced.
The company distributes its products in 165 countries around the world.
It took the first steps towards creating the Bottega Forest – A breath for the Planet by planting 500 trees in Ecuador, Tanzania and Madagascar.
The Italian company chose a range of plants, including cocoa, coffee, lemon, lime, orange, neem, moringa, camphor, mahogany and tefrosia.
Sandro Bottega, Director of Bottega Spa, said: “I embraced this project with enthusiasm because I believe that sustainability is an absolute value that cannot be limited to the perimeter of our company, within which we have made significant investments in energy saving, environmental protection and the well-being of the people who work there.
“Planting 500 trees in distant countries is the first step towards creating the Bottega Forest and giving something back to the planet that hosts us.”
