Bluebox reports ‘good meetings’ at AIX

Bluebox Aviation Systems report having “some really good meetings and some really good walk ons” during the 2025 Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, Germany.

Kevin Birchmore, Vice President of Global Sales at Bluebox, says that some big airlines are currently interested in providing inflight entertainment (IFE) as a service enhancement to passengers and as a revenue generator. And lots of airlines are interested in generating revenue through their food and beverage programmes – including full-service airlines on their narrow-body fleets.

“We see somewhere between a 10% and 20% increase in revenue through offering an at-seat ordering solution…Instead of you waiting for the shopfront to go past you on the cart, you can order anytime you like,” says Birchmore.

The company’s platform is available on more than 40 airlines, including Air India. It can be battery-powered or installed and powered by the aircraft.

Bluebox has a partnership with Airbus to provide a linefit solution. Airbus installs the hardware and Bluebox then installs the software.

“From our perspective, Blueview as a software suite is flexible and can be deployed in lots of different ways on different hardware infrastructure. We invested quite a lot to make sure that it’s a sort of virtualised platform. A good example of that is Jetstar: their existing aircraft have Bluebox Wow as a power install. Their newer aircraft get Airbus OSP. From a passenger perspective, you don’t care what the hardware is,” continues Birchmore.

“Our most recent announcement has been joining the Viasat Connected Partner Platform. Being part of that programme allows that retail solution to be offered to all of the Viasat existing customers and we’ve had a lot of interest,” emphasises the VP of Global Sales.

“We’ve had meetings with a number of airlines looking at connectivity for the future. We want to offer additional services, we want to offer that brand experience and we want to generate that additional revenue, because it helps support the cost base of providing the connectivity solution,” adds Birchmore.
