Aviva and Beond introduce a tray-service amenity experience

Aviva and Beond have partnered to introduce the first formalised tray-service amenity experience in commercial aviation. The pioneering concept prioritises passenger wellbeing, personal choice and environmental responsibility.

Rather than distributing a pre-packed amenity kit to passengers, Aviva and Beond are collaborating to offer a curated tray service.

Passengers are invited to browse the tray and select items that suit their preferences and needs. There’s no upper limit on the number of items they can choose.

This approach enhances the sense of care and personalisation while eliminating the waste associated with traditional amenity kits – which can see items go unused.

Aviva and Beond share a vision of intentional luxury. Their collaboration centres on designing experiences that feel meaningful rather than excessive.

Each passenger receives a base set of essentials. They are then presented with a curated tray of additional skincare and wellness items and can make a selection.

For the tray-service amenity experience, Aviva partnered with Avant Skincare. Adding an element of wellness and indulgence to the concept, Avant’s products help keep passengers’ skin hydrated, refreshed and balanced in the cabin environment.

The aircraft’s lavatories are stocked with Avant hand and body care products, as well as sustainable dental kits featuring bamboo toothbrushes and Marvis toothpaste.

The tray means that travellers no longer receive a one-size-fits-all amenity kit. Instead, they select what matters most to them.

Offering only what passengers want helps to reduce waste, as traditional amenity kits often result in unused items being discarded.

The waste reduction is around 40% compared to a traditional amenity kit offering. In this case, that is estimated to equate to a weight saving of approximately 13.5 tonnes a year.

It benefits passenger wellbeing as long-haul travel can be taxing on the body, particularly the skin. Avant’s premium products ensure that self-care is integrated into the journey itself, not something postponed until after landing.

At a time when travellers are more conscious than ever of personal wellness and environmental impact, this helps give passengers agency to design their own inflight comfort.

“The Beond tray-service amenity experience is a notable development because it represents a paradigm shift in inflight luxury and wellbeing, blending personalised service, sensory design and sustainability into one seamless onboard ritual which embodies Beond’s barefoot luxury ethos, setting a new benchmark in conscious inflight hospitality,” said Paul Hunter, Director Business Development at Aviva.

In light of the tray’s introduction, will the next generation of inflight luxury be characterised by intention, personalisation and responsibility?
