Air India dances to the beat with new safety video

Air India has revealed a new inflight safety video showcasing Indian dance.

Titled Safety Mudras, the video combines safety instructions with eight classical- and folk-dance forms from around the country. These are: Bharatnatyam, Bihu, Kathak, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Odissi, Ghoomar and Giddha.

Each dance form presents a specific safety instruction. The video was created in partnership with Chairman of McCann Worldgroup Prasoon Joshi, composer and singer Shankar Mahadevan and film director and screenwriter Bharatbala.

The safety video will initially be rolled out on Air India’s new A350 aircraft before being progressively deployed across the airline’s fleet.

Travellers can also find it on Air India’s official YouTube channel.

Campbell Wilson, CEO and MD at Air India, said: “As a flagbearer of the country and a longstanding patron of Indian art and culture, Air India is delighted to present a work of art that is designed to deliver essential safety instructions while showcasing India’s rich cultural diversity to travellers around the world.

“Our guests will find this inflight safety video to be more immersive and informative, and a warm welcome to India from the moment they step onboard.”
