United Airlines has introduced a digital tool enabling passengers to check whether their upcoming flight is scheduled to offer Starlink Wi-Fi, as the carrier continues to expand the connectivity service across its fleet.
The Starlink Tracker provides daily updates on the rollout and allows passengers to enter their travel date and flight number within three days of departure. It also shows Starlink installations across United’s regional, narrowbody and widebody fleets, along with availability at its hubs.
Aircraft information is updated in real time to account for last-minute changes. United also advises passengers of scheduled Starlink availability through pre-flight emails, text messages and the United app, as well as through onboard announcements and signage.
Starlink is now active on more than 635 United mainline and United Express aircraft, with more than 2,500 Starlink-equipped flights operating each day. That represents nearly half of United’s daily departures and carries an average of more than 250,000 passengers a day.
The airline says more than 37.7 million passengers have flown aboard Starlink-equipped aircraft across more than 538,000 flights, with 14 million devices powered by the service.
United is installing Starlink on around 20 aircraft each week and plans to complete installations across its fleet by the end of 2027.
United has also extended its “Switch to Better Wi-Fi” status match campaign until October 22 following strong demand. The airline said applications during the campaign were 275% higher than pre-campaign levels.
The promotion gives eligible Delta SkyMiles and American AAdvantage members an opportunity to earn United Premier status until the end of January 2028, subject to spending and flight requirements.
The initiative forms part of United’s push to use high-speed onboard connectivity both to enhance the passenger experience and differentiate its inflight product.
Andrew Nocella, United’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Our new tracker makes it easier for customers to see which flights they can experience it on as we quickly expand Starlink across our fleet.”
