Delta offers new pours from October

Delta Air Lines’ new wine programme will be poured onboard from October 1. It features a collection showcasing Napa Valley vintages and products from wine-producing regions around the world.

Developed in collaboration with Andrea Robinson, Master Sommelier, the curation of this collection was opened to SkyMiles Members, who participated in blind tastings. The goal was to ensure this final lineup resonates not only with wine experts but also with the passengers who drink it.

“Wine is fun,” Robinson said. “You don’t need to know producers, vintages or wine speak to enjoy a great glass of wine. The beauty of travel is discovery, and wine can be a wonderful part of that journey.”

As many as 1,600 wines were evaluated for inclusion. The new selection has 13 wines from 11 wineries and reflects Delta’s vision to make wine more approachable, more versatile and deeply connected to the people, places and craftsmanship behind each bottle.

Each international wine was selected not only for its quality. Its ability to transport customers to a destination through authentic regional character was a factor.

At altitude, lower humidity and cabin pressure can impact how aromas and flavours are perceived. Wines that perform beautifully on the ground don’t always translate the same way in the air.

That’s why every wine considered for Delta’s programme undergoes a rigorous evaluation process focused on how it performs in the unique environment of flight. Freshness, balance, expressive fruit, texture and food versatility are a must.

Sky Sommelier programme

Delta’s Sky Sommelier programme, the first of its kind, ensures flight attendant leaders are expertly trained to deliver premium hospitality and elevate the wine experience onboard for any customers who may have questions about the selections.

“Our customers expect a premium experience from departure to arrival,” said Stephanie Laster, Managing Director – Onboard Experience at Delta Air Lines. “Every wine has to complement our culinary programme, appeal to a broad range of tastes and deliver a consistently enjoyable experience in the air.”

Wines from California’s Napa Valley and surrounding areas are at the heart of the new portfolio. By highlighting Napa onboard, Delta gives customers a chance to experience one of America’s premier culinary and viticultural destinations through the stories and people behind each label.

“Napa represents everything we love about wine as a travel and hospitality experience,” said Robinson. “The quality of labels produced in the region is extraordinary, but what truly stands out are the people and the farming that pour into each. These are families and vintners have dedicated generations to their craft while continuing to innovate and elevate.”

Selected wines will be available in Delta One for six months.

The producers include Silver Oak, which has been producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon for more than five decades. Its wine will be on international Delta One routes from October 2026 into March 2027, along with wine from Patz and Hall, produced in Sonoma.

Trefethen Family Vineyards, Freemark Abbey and Crossbarn wines will be on domestic Delta One flights from October 2026 until March 2027.

St. Supéry wines, crafted in Rutherford, will be served on both domestic and international routes over the coming six months. Its certified sustainable farming practices and long-term commitment to waste reduction, renewable power and resource reclamation made it a fit with Delta’s sustainability strategy.

Additionally, Champagne Taittinger will be available across Delta One experiences, including domestic routes, from October.

Laster added: “Wine has the power to tell stories in a uniquely personal way. Our goal was to build a programme that delivers exceptional quality while making wine more inviting. Every label in this collection helps connect customers to remarkable destinations, passionate winemakers and meaningful experiences that extend well beyond the glass.”
