Taste of Travel First day highlights

The industry’s most influential people and products will be recognised on the Taste of Travel Theatre on day one, along with debates around special meals, onboard retail sales and the growing consumer pressure for sustainability inflight.

10.00 ONBOARD ICONS 

Announcing the most influential people in the industry.

To mark WTCE’s 10-year anniversary, the organisers have launched an Onboard Icons competition to spotlight the industry’s most influential people and recognise the outstanding contributions made by individuals in the sector over the last decade. The significant progress that the onboard catering and services industry has made since WTCE’s first event in 2012 would not have been possible without the hard-working people at the helm of the industry, and the Onboard Icons competition will celebrate their determination to accelerate the sector’s success. Results from the public nomination and voting process will be announced live at show in the Taste of Travel Theatre.

11.00 THE FUTURE OF SPECIAL MEALS

Marc Warde of LIbero Special Meals and his panel of nutrition and diet experts will discuss the challenges for our industry and ways in which special meals passengers’ needs can be addressed.  Understanding the modern allergen, dietary and special meals passengers of today can literally mean the difference between life and death. It’s time for a modern rethink, some new and perhaps difficult questions and resolutions.

12.00 MOVING FROM PUSH TO PULL

This session discusses ways in which airlines can improve the customer experience whilst increasing their ancillary revenue and cutting waste.  Job  Heimerikx, Air Fi,  

Michael Raesch, Omnevo and Nils Taubert,  Retail inMotion  look at the supply chain, personalised meal loading and the latest technology for pre- and post-flight both on the ground and on board.

13.00 AN APPETITE FOR MEAT-FREE DINING

Steve Walpole serves up some of his favourite plant-based dishes suited to the on board industry.  Sampling.

14.00 PASSENGERS LEAD THE SUSTAINABILITY CAUSE

Our panel of experts defines the vital significance of sustainability for inflight service in response to customer demand.

16.30 – 17.30  Onboard Hospitality Awards Results – Awarding the very best.  What the industry has been waiting for!  This year’s winners are announced and awards presented on the Taste of Travel Theatre.
