Future of air transport was focus of FTE World Innovation Summit

The 2025 Future Travel Experience (FTE) World Innovation Summit took place from May 13 to 15 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The event was hosted by Pittsburgh International Airport.

The summit brought together senior figures from the global air transport and technology sectors for three days. Showcasing innovation and sharing information, it also featured networking at Carnegie Mellon University, a leading institution for robotics, AI and engineering.

The focus was on the future of air transport in the areas of advanced technology, future airports, as well as energy and sustainability.

The 2025 FTE World Innovation Summit opened at Pittsburgh International Airport’s new terminal.

More than 100 organisations attended, including airports, airlines, tech companies and government partners.

Attendees heard keynote speeches by Sean Doyle, Chairman and CEO of British Airways; Bernadette Berger, Director of Innovation at Alaska Airlines; John Thornton, CEO of Astrobotic, and Christina Cassotis, CEO of Pittsburgh International Airport.

Startup pitch sessions and innovation workshops were also held, with insights from the likes of Frontier Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, Connect Airlines and Edmonton International Airport.
