The first Iberia aircraft equipped to enable connectivity via SpaceX’s Starlink network has entered service.
The Spanish flag carrier’s inaugural Starlink-equipped flight was from Madrid-Barajas to São Paulo on June 23.
The onboard connectivity means that Iberia is the first Spanish airline to incorporate the satellite connectivity technology engineered by SpaceX.
The system is designed to support multiple devices simultaneously and a seamless experience for all passengers.
The Connectivity is faster and more stable than traditional systems because of Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite constellation..
The new service will be free for passengers in all cabins and will provide a home-like connectivity experience, with speeds of up to 500 Mbps. This will enable high-bandwidth activities such as streaming live events, video calls, online gaming, simultaneous browsing and remote working.
In addition, connectivity will be available throughout the travel experience, from boarding to arrival, delivering a smoother and more consistent digital experience onboard.
IAG, Iberia’s parent group, signed a strategic partnership with Starlink in November 2025.
The company’s Flight Plan 2030 roadmap includes investments totalling €6 billion in key areas such as customer experience, artificial intelligence, fleet renewal and the development of Ciudad Iberia, a leading aviation innovation hub.
