Tasty Globes, edible pearls which are added to food to give flavour, have been launched at the World Travel and Onboard Catering Expo (WTCE). The new flavours are Salsa Mexicana, Thai Chilli and Tandoori.
Tasty Globes are produced by Dr. Steudel, the company behind the Pure Taste and Pure Sauce food flavouring brands. All three brands will be introduced on Lufthansa flights in September 2025.
The capsules come in a range of flavours, made without additives or preservatives and retain their taste at altitude due to their algae outer layer. A couple of pearls can be added to inflight meals without the need for excessive salt.
Five new Pure Sauce flavours also launched recently on April 1 – Bouillabaisse, Duck a l’orange, Mushroom, Asian with ginger and turmeric, and Lobster with saffron.
Creator Yana Steudel, who the brand is named after, is a former chemist who created the first flavour, Sherry Pedro Ximenez, for fun.
Dr. Yana Steudel said: “Our strongest memories are associated with food. The pearls now come in around 20 flavours, and I’m launching the three newest varieties for the first time at WTCE this year.”
