Sport 24’s new partnership with Delta Air Lines means that passengers on long-haul international flights are able to watch live sporting events on their personal electronic devices (PEDs).
Live sports coverage will be available through Delta Sync Wi-Fi. Delta Sync can be unlocked through free SkyMiles Membership and is a platform for entertainment, connection and experiences tailored to the journey.
The US carrier has the ambition of being the leading premium airline for sports fans.
Delta partners with organisations including Team USA, the WNBA, PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions, the Masters Tournament and professional and collegiate teams across key markets.
Those partnerships help bring fans closer to the teams, athletes and moments they love, both on the ground and in the air.
Sport 24 is owned, operated and licensed by IMG. It brings international travellers access to round-the-clock live sports programming while they fly.
Passengers can log on to Delta Sync Wi-Fi with their SkyMiles credentials and connect to a web player featuring Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra channels.
Sport 24 coverage spans some of the world’s most-followed sports and competitions, including the Premier League, UEFA competitions, Formula 1 and Grand Slam tennis tournaments.
Live programming is prioritised based on the most relevant event available at the time.
The platform will be available through Delta Sync Wi-Fi on international routes between the U.S. and destinations abroad. Passengers will access Sport 24 from Delta Sync Wi-Fi portal via their PEDs.
Ranjan Goswami, Chief Marketing and Product Officer at Delta Air Lines, said: “As Delta continues to build for a more global, connected future, we’re focused on making the onboard experience more relevant to where our customers are going and what they care about. Live sports bring people together across borders and time zones, and through our partnership with Sport 24, customers on international flights can stay connected to the moments that matter most while they travel.”
Richard Wise, Senior Vice President of Content and Channels at IMG, added: “Sport 24 offers an unmatched portfolio of live sport and we understand how important it is for passengers to have more choice in how they can experience live sport on board.
