Silversea kicks off new ship’s maiden voyage

Silversea Cruise’s new Silver Nova ship set sail on its maiden voyage on August 14.

The Silver Nova will represent an important milestone on the Royal Caribbean Group’s journey to Destination Net Zero. It has also been described as ‘one of the most environmentally conscious ultra-luxury cruise ships ever built’.

The new ship, plus all future Nova-class vessels, are set to introduce ‘an unparalleled openness to the world and an entirely new take on luxury at sea’.

Its seven-day roundtrip from Venice will cover most of the Adriatic’s hotspots. Destinations will include Piran in Slovenia, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Split and Rovinj in Croatia, as well as Kotor in Montenegro.

Captain Cosimo Pontillo, Master of Silver Nova, said: “I am incredibly proud to take the helm of Silver Nova for her maiden voyage. Having been with Silversea Cruises for almost 30 years, I have witnessed the evolution of the fleet first-hand. Silver Nova represents the pinnacle of ultra-luxury cruise travel and I am excited to welcome our guests aboard to experience her many innovations.”
