Scandinavian Airlines will introduce Flavors by SAS on October 1, 2025. The new food and beverage concept is designed to offer passengers a more varied, globally inspired culinary offering.
Flavors by SAS will debut alongside the airline’s new European Business Class. Later, it will become available in lounges and on intercontinental flights.
The concept builds on the New Nordic by SAS concept that was introduced in 2017. New Nordic highlighted Scandinavian specialities with a modern twist while Flavors by SAS brings a broader, more global perspective.
SAS’s passengers can anticipate greater variety, enhanced presentation and international culinary influences from Flavors by SAS.
SAS is also introducing a more flexible dining approach to improve meal variety and adapt service to each flight.
The new approach makes it easy to adjust meals based on flight time, service needs and the available space onboard to create a smoother and more premium dining experience.
Passengers can anticipate a tiered meal service which ensures meal offerings align with flight length and conditions, ranging from simpler basket services to full tray meals with hot and cold dishes.
The flexible dining approach will enable SAS to mix and match meal components to create unique tray combinations, ensuring variety and freshness, and there will be rolling menu changes, so that passengers experience new options.
In Business class, single-use items will be replaced with porcelain, glass and stainless steel utensils to elevate the onboard dining experience.
With the new concept, SAS aims to reduce food waste, prioritise local sourcing and minimise plastic packaging by increasing the use of compostable and recyclable materials.
“While SAS has always been about bringing Scandinavia to the world, this new concept, Flavors by SAS, brings the world to Scandinavia, incorporating bold and diverse flavors inspired by Europe, the U.S., Asia, the Middle East and the Mediterranean,” said Aron Backström, Vice President Product and Loyalty at SAS.
