Panasonic Avionics Corporation has opened a new software design and development facility in Pune, India. It is the first site in India dedicated to supporting the development and delivery of inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) solutions.
More than 200 skilled engineers have been employed at the Pune site and growth plans are in place to scale the number of employees. It will support increasing demand from airlines for IFEC solutions.
The new Pune site is integral to the company’s strategy of enabling airlines to realise their visions to use innovative IFEC solutions to satisfy passengers. It will help lower IFEC solution lifecycle costs.
Software will be developed, tested and sustained in Pune to deliver passenger experiences for narrowbody and widebody aircraft. These include the X Series inflight entertainment system, solutions enabling airlines to create unique seatback passenger experiences and IFEC development support via software development kits (SDKs).
To accelerate the new facility’s growth, Panasonic Avionics is developing partnerships with Indian universities to nurture and develop skilled engineering graduates.
