Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic Avionics) has made major enhancements to its Arc inflight map platform.
Arc has been selected for use by 35 airlines. The moving map combines cinematic design, brand-building tools and inclusive functionality with developer-friendly APIs.
The new features are available to airlines worldwide, enabling them to take the inflight map experience to the next level. They are designed to deliver a dynamic passenger experience, integrate and strengthen airline branding, improve accessibility and extend integration across the inflight entertainment (IFE) ecosystem.
Arc Vistas transforms the map into an immersive, destination-inspired storytelling platform. Using the Arc map engine, Vistas delivers cinematic fly-through visuals which elevate anticipation, enhance emotional connection and provide a serene inflight companion.
Airlines can now highlight their global networks directly within the inflight experience through customisable route maps. This feature gives carriers a powerful way to engage passengers with their destinations and reinforce brand identity.
Inclusivity is enhanced by the addition of text scaling and colour adjustments. These enhancements ensure readability for passengers with visual impairments and improve visibility for colourblind or low-vision users.
Newly introduced integration APIs will enable airlines and third-party developers to bring Arc map data and visuals to other passenger touchpoints, including airline apps, portals and seatback experiences. This developer-friendly approach reduces integration complexity and supports faster time-to-market for customised experiences.
Patrick Biggerstaff, Senior Director of Product Management, Digital Solutions at Panasonic Avionics, said: “Passengers are looking for more engaging, personalised and inclusive inflight experiences but traditional maps have often felt static and lacking in emotional or informational depth. At the same time, airlines need tools that differentiate their brand, promote their network and integrate inflight engagement into broader digital ecosystems, all while meeting growing accessibility expectations. The latest Arc evolutions address these needs, transforming the map into a platform for storytelling, inclusivity and brand connection.”
