German frozen food specialist, Frankenberg has launched a new organic range of pre-order inflight meals now proving popular on Condor.
There are three organic choices Pasta Bolognese, Indian Dahl and Tortellini Quinoa, adopted by the carrier as part of its commitment to quality, sustainable onboard choices.
The new organic recipe concept required the caterer to submit to a scrupulous organic audit and certification process to ensure organic credentials all along the ingredient supply chain, with no cross-contamination in production.
Condor crews have reported very positive feedback from passengers happy with the taste and presentation, and the organic tag appears to be supporting strong sales.
Laura Schlaadt, joint-MD at Frankenberg, said: “Many airlines show interest in the organic concept but Condor has gone that step further and presented a fully- organic choice to passengers. They sit alongside non-organic choices and have been very well received. We developed the range through close collaboration with local organic farmers and are confident it is a more natural, totally pesticide-free, tasty and environmentally-friendly inflight choice.”
Cost is often a barrier to organic ranges but Schlaadt believes strong relationships with long-established suppliers have helped Frankenberg secure competitively priced ingredients, while the airline was willing to accepted a slight reduction in its potential profit margin in exchange for the prize of aligning its brand to such a sustainable range.
