Airport College International has launched a digital training course dedicated to inflight catering.
The company already provides practical training on safety, security, operations, service, and sustainability for airlines, ground handling companies and air cargo organisations worldwide.
CEO and Founding Partner, Pertti Mero, said it was a natural step to introduce an eLearning course for the onboard catering sector.
“Inflight catering sits at the intersection of aviation safety, aviation security, food safety and operational performance,” he explained.
“Catering teams operate under the same pressures as other frontline aviation functions: strict compliance requirements, frequent audits, tight turnaround timelines, and often high staff turnover.
“We believe inflight catering is not separate from aviation it is an essential part of it. Our goal is to transfer proven aviation training approaches into catering environments in a way that is practical, relevant, and operationally realistic.”
He said the training includes food safety and hygiene awareness, Halal catering operations, aviation security, airside safety, Safety Management System (SMS), human factors, and sustainability and ESG awareness.
“We can also develop tailored, client-specific training for catering organisations,” added Mero.
All training is delivered through flexible digital learning solutions designed for frontline operational teams.
“As inflight catering becomes more complex, more visible, and more tightly audited within the aviation ecosystem, we believe our experience from airlines, ground handling, and cargo can directly support catering organisations in strengthening training, assurance, and operational consistency.”
The course was launched to members of the Airline Catering Association (ACA) at its Leadership Symposium in Toulouse on Feb 18-20.
