New ocean-themed zones on Carnival Jubilee

Carnival Jubilee, Carnival Cruises’ next Excel class ship will introduce immersive ocean-themed experiences in two new zones, Currents and The Shores. Debuting later in 2023, she will also feature the fleet’s third roller coaster at sea.

Currents, on decks six and seven, is an immersive and transformative space that playfully takes guests below the waves using innovative technology. It offers guests new bar and dining venues plus live music.

Featuring realistic and fantastical elements representing underwater worlds, Currents is a space that changes from day to night and throughout the cruise. The portals to the sea comprise six huge LED windows. Along with a huge, wave-shaped LED ceiling, theatrical show lighting and a sound system will create immersive environments for guests.

Venues in Currents

Venues within Currents include Dr.Inks, Ph.D, The Golden Mermaid and Emeril’s Bistro 717.

The Dr.Inks, Ph.D bar is inspired by a playful and intelligent octopus character. It serves ocean-themed drinks such as colour-changing cocktails, jellyfish and layered shots plus playful items featuring sea foam, boba pearls and garnishes. Guests can also enjoy live music in Dr.Inks, Ph.D.

The Golden Mermaid is a stylish lounge. It is conceived as the home of a mysterious golden mermaid who swims to the depths of the oceans to find long-lost treasures of ancient civilizations and uncovers secret cocktail recipes. The cocktails served are made with edible glitter and adorned with garnishes for an elevated experience. A live band will perform on stage.

Emeril’s Bistro 717 is named after Emeril Lagasse, Carnival Cruises’ Chief Culinary Officer and Carnival Jubilee’s hull number at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany. It serves creole cuisine, seafood selection and has a raw bar. Breakfast dishes such as shrimp and grits, poached eggs and fixings and sweet beignets will be available. Creole boiled shrimp, fresh oysters as well as authentic Louisiana cuisine, including jambalaya plus duck and sausage gumbo, will be served for lunch and dinner. The bistro’s LED windows and ceiling array will create a sense of dining underwater.

Currents will also feature an Alchemy Bar and Carnival Kitchen.

The Shores

The Shores, on Deck 8, is inspired by the ways people enjoy the seaside, including piers, boardwalks and beaches. A three-deck-high fish school art installation rises from Deck 6 to Deck 8.

The Shores feature casual indoor and outdoor seating areas. Coastal Slice serves pizza and Beach Buns serves the likes of sandwiches and hot dogs. Marina Bar features nautical designs and lounge seating. Rudi’s Seagrill and Cucina del Capitano have both indoor and al fresco seating.

Spanning decks six, seven and eight, Grand Central is conceived as the heart of Carnival Jubilee. At night, movable LED screens and a stage create help transform it into an entertainment space. It connects the Piano Bar 88, The Punchliner Comedy Club, Cloud 9 Fitness Center, Cherry on Top, Bonsai Sushi and Teppanyaki plus shopping venues, the casino and a theatre.

Racing at sea

BOLT is the centrepiece of the ship’s top deck. It features all-electric, motorcycle-inspired vehicles capable of reaching speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. They can be raced along an 800-foot-long track that is 187 feet above the sea. The Carnival Jubilee is also home to the WaterWorks aqua park and SportSquare, which features a mini-golf course, full-court basketball and a ropes course.

Summer Landing, on Deck 8, houses Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, which serves Carnival’s ParchedPig craft beers from the onboard brewery. The Heroes Tribute Lounge honours military personnel while The Patio features a pool and whirlpools. It also houses The Watering Hole poolside bar.

The poolside Lido zone spans decks 6 and 17. It is home to the Carnival Seaside Theater, the two-level RedFrog Tiki Bar, BlueIguana Cantina and Guy’s Burger Joint. It also houses Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken restaurant, Seafood Shack, Street Eats, Lido Marketplace, Circle C, Club 02 and The Warehouse Arcade.
