KC Flight Catering has broken ground on a new 35,000-square-foot catering unit at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, Pakistan.
The greenfield project is expected to commence operations by the end of the first quarter of 2027. It is designed to have an operational capacity of 20,000 meals per day.
The facility will be state-of-the-art, using solar energy to supply power and is designed to complement Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) flow protocols, significantly improving operational efficiency and capacity. It will incorporate advanced blast chilling technology.
KC Flight Catering’s announcement comes in the wake of a major expansion of Allama Iqbal International Airport, which has the IATA code LHE.
Work to increase the airport’s annual capacity from five to 25 million passengers is scheduled for completion by September 2026.
The new unit will enhance KC Flight Catering’s ability to supply Lahore’s growing aviation footprint.
“Lahore is the provincial capital of Punjab and one of South Asia’s fastest-growing metropolitan centres. The city’s aviation footprint continues to expand rapidly, driven by increasing passenger demand, fleet growth among domestic carriers, and major infrastructure upgrades underway at Allama Iqbal International Airport to double the passenger handling capacity,” explained Haris Ishak, General Manager – Strategy and Commercial at KC Flight Catering.
“This new facility marks a major step forward for KC Flight Catering and reinforces our commitment to supporting the rapid growth of Pakistan’s aviation sector. With a production capacity of 20,000 meals per day, the unit will enable us to deliver world-class inflight catering services with greater scale, efficiency and reliability,” continued Ishak.
