Nestlé International Travel Retail (NITR) highlighted new confectionery products and brand partnerships at TFWA World Exhibition & Conference 2026 in Cannes, including expanded After Eight flavours, KitKat Japan exclusives and further developments in its KitKat and Formula 1 partnership.
For onboard hospitality operators, the launches offer potential opportunities to refresh complimentary chocolate selections, develop premium confectionery offerings and introduce more distinctive products for purchase onboard.
After Eight moves beyond mint
A key launch is After Eight’s expansion beyond its traditional mint flavour, with Caramel, Orange and Raspberry varieties introduced alongside the classic recipe from September 2026.
The new flavours broaden the brand’s premium chocolate proposition, creating additional options for gifting and self-treat occasions. Refreshed packaging and clearer flavour navigation support the expanded range.
KitKat builds on Formula 1 partnership
Nestlé also showcased the continued development of KitKat’s Formula 1 partnership, which has featured travel retail activations including racing simulators, reaction challenges, personalised car tins and exclusive products.
At TFWA, the company previewed a new collectible concept planned for the next phase of the partnership, designed to build on the appeal of Formula 1 and engage younger travellers.
The collaboration demonstrates how globally recognised confectionery brands can use sporting partnerships and limited-edition products to create interest beyond traditional chocolate purchases.
KitKat Japan taps into discovery
KitKat Japan was another focus, with exclusive flavours and Japanese-inspired products designed to appeal to shoppers seeking distinctive confectionery experiences.
The showcase included a preview of a mystery flavour, building on the brand’s use of limited-edition products, cultural storytelling and interactive concepts to encourage discovery.
While these initiatives are primarily aimed at travel retail environments on the ground, distinctive and exclusive products can also provide opportunities for onboard retail, particularly where airlines are looking to differentiate their buy-on-board ranges.
A.C.T. strategy targets category growth
NITR presented its A.C.T. framework – Attract, Convert, Thrive – as the foundation of its approach to growing confectionery sales in travel retail. The strategy focuses on drawing shoppers into the category, converting engagement into purchases and supporting sustainable long-term growth.
Frédéric Porchet, general manager of Nestlé International Travel Retail, said the company was combining established brands, exclusive products and retail activations to give travellers more reasons to discover and purchase confectionery.
The company also highlighted its sustainability work through the Nestlé Cocoa Plan and Nestlé Income Accelerator Programme, which support cocoa-farming families through initiatives including improved agricultural practices, agroforestry, school enrolment and income diversification.
