IMG secures FIFA World Cup contract

IMG has secured the rights to broadcast the FIFA World Cup 2025 on Sport 24 this summer.

The deal, which was negotiated with DAZN, will allow IMG to live broadcast more than 55 matches and over 115 hours of content to the inflight and cruise markets via Sport 24’s global channels. Coverage will also be available for free on DAZN.com.

A total of 32 teams will be hosted across 12 venues in the US. The tournament will join a sports schedule comprising the UEFA Woman’s EURO 2025, Wimbledon Championships, The Open and Formula One.

This follows the success of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 on Sport 24.

Richard Wise, SVP Content and Channels at IMG, said: “Sport 24 is all about a global offering for global passengers and the FIFA Club World Cup is bringing together the biggest and most successful clubs in world football, on a global stage for the first time.

“We’re delighted to partner with DAZN to make extensive live coverage of the tournament available to our international airlines and cruise lines partners, so that passengers never have to miss a moment of the action.”

Sport 24 can be viewed on Etihad Airways, Emirates, Turkish Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Carnival Group, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Norwegian Cruise line and Fred Olsen.
