Hello Straw is introducing tasteless, plastic-free paper cutlery to the airline industry in a bid to bring a recyclable and more sustainable alternative to wood.
The European company, which has been operating for 35 years, has developed products specifically for the airline industry, such as a ‘6-in-1’ paper cutlery pouch.
The pouch is customisable with and airline’s logo, brand colours, text and artwork.
Hello Straw has also designed a ‘cutlery board’ – a board that can be used as a lid to keep food fresh during transit and is convenient to store, but which incorporates tear-off paper utensils, including a spoon, knife, fork and dessert spoon or snack pick.
“Unlike wooden alternatives, our paper cutlery is completely tasteless, enhancing the flavour of inflight or takeaway meals,” said a spokeswoman.
“And unlike many ‘eco’ claims, our products are fully recyclable, compostable, customisable, and ready for global scale.”
Hello Straw products are already being used onboard by several airlines, including Swiss and Sunclass.
