Concept launched: First flight October 2019 with roll out continuing in to 2027

GoJet Airlines and partner United Airlines were seeking a key differentiator in the regional aviation space. Their goal was to provide a one-of-a-kind experience for Business and regional travellers while offering additional assistance and perks for regional flight crews.
The cabin concept for the CRJ-550 came from a desire to offer non-economy travellers more options via larger regional aircraft. GoJet Airlines wanted to differentiate the 50-seat aircraft market by offering First and Economy Plus seating, something no other comparable aircraft has. Converting a current 50-seat aircraft would have made the vision impossible. However, GoJet’s partner, United Airlines, had 70-seat CRJ-700s to spare, which created a unique opportunity. GoJet Airlines now had the space necessary for this type of conversion and offering while saving both the time and money of commissioning new aircraft.
The GoJet Airlines team was tasked with designing an aircraft cabin within the CRJ-700 body that could accommodate all three levels of cabin pricing and use the additional space available to create a unique passenger experience and ease the burden on small flight crews.
Comfort
Interior design
GoJet Airlines introduced three distinct seating options on the CRJ-550: First, Economy Plus and Economy, marking a significant improvement over its predecessor, the CRJ-700. These enhancements were made possible through reconfiguration. The redesigned layout provides additional legroom and eight additional premium seats for 10 First, 20 Economy Plus, and 20 Economy passengers in the standard 1-2, 2-2 configuration. Each seating class is distinguished by its colour palette, with rich tones and premium materials reflecting an updated and luxurious take on United Airlines’ branding. The result blends spacious design, premium amenities and streamlined service.
A standout feature of the CRJ-550 is the addition of four dedicated luggage storage cabinets, recognising the growing preference for carry-on luggage. One cabinet is located at the front of the aircraft, while the other three are positioned between First and Economy. This enhances storage capacity and also creates a larger separation between the two cabins for more privacy in First.
Catering
The First cabin on the CRJ-550 is designed with service excellence in mind, offering an exclusive and spacious experience. One of its standout features is the innovative refreshment bar, located just in front of the first row providing First passengers with convenient, self-serve access to non-alcoholic beverages and premium snacks. Alcoholic beverages are served exclusively by the flight attendant but the bar enhances the overall delivery of service.
First passengers enjoy premium amenities on demand, while the streamlined setup enables attendants to also provide attentive service to Economy. By empowering passengers, the refreshment bar redefines inflight hospitality on regional aircraft.
Connectivity
GoJet Airlines continues to elevate the passenger experience through the introduction of Starlink Wi-Fi, made possible by a strategic partnership with United Airlines. This groundbreaking enhancement brings high-speed, low-latency internet connectivity to the CRJ-550 fleet, marking a significant milestone in regional aviation technology.
Developed by SpaceX, Starlink enables passengers to stream, browse and work seamlessly above the clouds with speed and reliability previously unattainable on regional aircraft. The rollout of Starlink Wi-Fi underscores GoJet Airlines’ commitment to innovation, operational excellence and passenger convenience. As one of the first regional carriers to implement this next-generation technology, GoJet has set a new industry standard.
