Delta Air Lines is marking America’s 250th anniversary by introducing a new film collection from the beginning of July.
The quarterly onboard welcome video from Chief Executive Officer Ed Bastian, airing across the fleet from July, will commemorate America’s 250th anniversary by honouring the freedoms, sacrifices and cultural diversity which define the United States.
The commemorative, pre-departure welcome video will play across more than 165,000 seatback screens.
As part of the 80th anniversary of D-Day in 2024, Delta produced a documentary titled Why We Dream. It captures the stories, wisdom and warnings of eight Second World War veterans as they travel back to Normandy eight decades after the invasion of northern France.
Since debuting at the Tribeca X Film Festival, the film has been licensed by CNN and HBO Max. It premiered on Memorial Day, May 25, in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
The airline will introduce the Star, Stripes and Stories collection of films from July 1. The films are a cinematic tribute to ambition, freedom and legacy, in which personal journeys and historic moments come together on screen.
Titles in the collection include Delta’s Why We Dream and Freedom250’s Washington Monument Projection and New Year’s Eve Show, capturing the exciting celebrations on the National Mall.
The movies Apollo 13, Forrest Gump, Independence Day, Lincoln and Hidden Figures are part of the collection.
So too are Elvis, Field of Dreams, First Man, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Wizard of Oz and The Years Between Us.
Delta has also become an inaugural founding partner of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Official Airline of Team USA.
