Burrana has announced in-seat power installations on four B737-MAX 8 aircraft for Cayman Airways, the flag carrier airline of the Cayman Islands.
The installation programme is a first for Burrana on a Boeing B737Max aircraft. It includes an all-economy offering with two combo USB-A and -C jacks per triple seat, powered by one USB Seat Box (USP) per seat group.
The system is seat leg mounted to 144 B/E Aerospace Meridian seats giving passengers plenty of leg room with no protrusion into their personal space.
Critical to Cayman Airway’s selection of Burrana was the requirement for the lightest weight system to have no impact to the existing seat certification, while driving additional benefits from reduced components and line-replaceable units (LRUs).
Burrana says its 48-volt direct current power architecture delivers an ultra-light system with higher reliability and fewer components than alternative current distribution systems.
“Cayman’s passengers will be able to enjoy all the benefits of Burrana’s in-seat power solution, including high-speed USB charging, intelligent power-sharing distribution and load shed management that ensures greater utilization of available power, while multiple levels of redundancy provide the highest reliability, meaning the possibility of a passenger-facing failure is almost zero,” said David Pook, Vice President – Global Marketing and Sales at Burrana.
